About

... How the Yeti got in my pajamas, I'll never know.

When I was young, I admired clever people. Now that I am old, I admire kind people.

-- Abraham Joshua Heschel

I'm 59 years old. I was happily married for 25 years and have five grown kids.

I live in North Bend, WA, within walking distance of Rattlesnake Lake.

I am a recovering introvert.

I'm not quite done in the middle.

I have seen most of the United States (except Alaska, oddly enough).

I've been to just a wee bit of the UK, Thailand, Mexico, and Canadia (the world's largest exporter of Canadians!)

I love "hard science" sci-fi movies (like Moon, or Archive) and books (like Seveneves, or Project Hail Mary) and quirky non-sciency movies (like Infinity Baby and Murder Party). The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is the funniest book I've ever read.

I know less about more things than 89.4% of anybody you are ever likely to meet.

Actually, there are only two or three things I know for sure.

I know I cannot ride a skateboard.

I love writing. I can happily spend hours giving a paragraph just the right cadence and emotion.

I enjoy song lyrics. I occassionally write them. I should do more of that... 'cause I sure can't sing... at all.

People who live their lives with their guard down make me happy.

I like to think that I'm a thoughtful person (both "pensive" and "considerate"). I try to always be patient and kind.

It's hard to offend me unless you intend to... and then it's easy.

I've had my share of hardships and heartaches.

If you're hurting and need a little kindness, call me.

I'll cook you dinner or we'll go for a walk. I'm not wise enough to fix myself, so I'm certainly not going to try to fix you, but sometimes a hug can fix a lot.

Abnormal psychology and "deviant" behavior are endlessly fascinating. Fortunately, I am perfectly normal.

I would love to meet people who like to do spontaneous things, like coming over to watch a movie, or going for a bike ride, or whatever.

I like "sweating the details" but as I've gotten older, I've gotten a little addled and a lot forgetful, so I make lots of mistakes and lose track of everything all the time. I kind of miss being really smart... then again, I kinda don't.

But I will always love and appreciate my friends.

I haven't quite figured life out, yet. I'm adrift upon an endless sea of bewilderment. There's plenty of room on board, though. Welcome aboard! (Try the shrimp. It's really good.)

Please say, "Hello!". That's why you're here, isn't it? 😄
